The Counselling Process

We offer counselling-style therapy-based services; including:
- Talk-based therapy (see information below)
- Movement body-based therapies (including principles of movement in yoga). Beneficial for releasing residue from past experiences, developing mind-body awareness for physical/mental strength and flexibility.
- Creative Therapies (including therapeutic writing, drumming and other expressive art-based therapy). Beneficial for acknowledging, processing and expressing thoughts and emotions
We have flexible options to suit individual/couple/group needs including;
- Telehealth: video, phone calls, chat messaging.
- Face-to-face sessions (occasionally available as advertised or by arrangement).

The Counselling Process

The First Session is generally to …
· bond a little
· get more of an idea about where you’re at
· explore what kinds of things would be helpful for your particular situation and needs, and
· identify how counselling may be beneficial for you
This helps us to get to know each other and make sure we’re a good fit.

The next step … is to look more closely at what you’re experiencing and collaborate with you to identify the techniques and strategies which will be the most beneficial to your particular needs.
We will encourage you to talk with us about what has been going on, and ask questions to clarify our understanding and investigate further. Together, we can create an outline for a counselling plan (and we can check-in as we go & make any adjustments as needed).
Everybody is unique (although we have things in common) and each assessment goes a little differently.

As sessions progress we will …

∗enquire about the effectiveness of what we are doing & work with you to make any adjustments as required.
We also invite you to discuss any concerns you may have as we approach the conclusion to our sessions (such as through the fulfilment of our counselling plan :-).
We offer shorter post-counselling appointments to assist with this transition – please let us know if this is something that interests you.
